Chapter 1
(The Beginning)

     The hero of our story, Chase Hancock, was average in pretty much every way, except one. He was born in a nondescript town in a nondescript state in the mid-western region of the good old U.S. of A. About the most interesting thing that happened to him in his early youth was that he stuck his mother’s keys in an electric outlet.

     It’s not interesting that he did that, per se, because kids stick things in things all the time. The interesting thing is that he didn’t electrocute himself. He had the good fortune to stick a key into the ground side of the outlet first and that the keys were on a ring that took most of the juice when he stuck the second key in. It did give him quite a jolt, though, and knocked him hard on his young little ass. He’s pretty sure that’s when he started remembering things.
